Ukrainian soldier blew himself up together with a bridge to stop the enemy
The engineer of a separate battalion, sailor Vitalii Skakun, blew up the Henichesk car bridge with himself on it to stop the enemy.
This message was reported by the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"In order to stop the advance of the tank column, a decision was made to blow up the Henichesk road bridge. The engineer of a separate battalion, sailor Skakun Vitalii Volodymyrovych, volunteered to perform this task. The explosives were planted on the bridge, but he did not manage to leave it on time", the statement goes.
According to his comrades, Vitalii got in touch by radio and said that he was going to blow up the bridge. An explosion was heard immediately afterwards. The defender died.
His heroic deed significantly slowed the advance of the enemy. His unit was able to redeploy and organize the defense.
