Today Ukraine celebrates 30th Independence Day: ceremonious events in Kyiv
Today Ukraine celebrates 30 years of Independence.

The declaration of independence of August 24 was confirmed by a majority vote in the December 1991 all-Ukrainian referendum. This was the basis for the deputies of the first convocation to finally determine the holiday date. Ukraine's Independence Day was first celebrated in August 1992. Since then, the entire Ukrainian people have traditionally celebrated this holiday on August 24.
Program of events in Kyiv
The celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence Day in Kyiv will begin with the laying of flowers at monuments, memorials, and burial places of prominent Ukrainian state leaders, fighters for Ukraine's independence in the 20th century, fallen participants of the Revolution of Dignity, participants in the Donbas war.
A military parade will take place on Khreshchatyk at 10:00. It will begin for the first time with the joint removal of the state flag of Ukraine by the Ukrainian military and representatives of Ukraine's partner countries, which will testify to their support for Ukrainian independence.
Before the passage of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there will be a theatrical performance "DNA" (Birthday of the country), which will show the historical milestones of Ukraine from the era of Kyivan Rus to the recent history of Ukraine. The theatrical performance will be accompanied by a specially written musical theme and sound design.
At 13:00 in the center of Kyiv, there will be a March of Defenders of Ukraine. Veterans and volunteers will gather in the Taras Shevchenko Park and will follow the following route in organized columns: Bessarabska Square – Khreschatyk Street – Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square.
At 14:00 there will be a river parade on the Dnieper. It will take place near the River Station and Trukhanov Island. A solemn passage of boats and flight of aircraft is planned and an artillery salute from Trukhanov Island at the end.
Artistic, sports, and cultural events will be held in all districts of Kyiv throughout the day.
The All-Ukrainian Festival Living Dictionary of Independence will take place in Volodymyrska Hill Park during which live broadcasts of regions, discussions, patriotic master classes, flash mobs, presentations of youth initiatives, VR-battles, local lore quest "Kyiv of the Independence Age" and evening film festival-presentation of short films by young Ukrainian directors are planned.
On the territory of the Hydropark park of culture and recreation, there will be an open tournament of the Master table tennis sports club among veterans, as well as a mass swim of 500 meters to the Independence Day of Ukraine.
On the territory of the National Complex Expocenter of Ukraine, there will be a Race in embroidered shirts.
At 17:00 in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine, there will be a concert by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli. It will take place on Ploshcha Konstytutsii Square accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, conductor-maestro Marcello Ruta, and the National Choir named after Veriovka. Ukrainian stars will take part in the concert.
At the end of the day, the concert "Independence in our DNA. The country's Independence Day" will take place at the Olympic NSC, which will begin at 21:00. The festive show will be attended by pop stars, opera, and ballet dancers, as well as a symphony orchestra.
