Wage arrears to miners are to be repaid today: Ministry of Energy sent funds

The Ministry of Energy sent UAH 653 million through the Ministry of Finance to pay salaries to miners in state-owned mines.

The press service of the Ministry of Energy announced this, Rubryka reports.

"According to a request sent by the Ministry of Energy, the funds for UAH 653,029.0 thousand should be transferred to the enterprises of the industry on Monday, August 16," the statement said.

"We're well aware of the miners' problems, and in touch with trade unions, local authorities, and mine management daily. All those responsible received information about when the money would arrive and what was being done a few weeks ago," Halushchenko said.

To recap, the miners stated they hadn't been paid their salaries since March and published a statement threatening to picket the Office of the President and block routes of international importance.

"If the Lvivvuhillia miners aren't paid by 18:00 on August 15, the labor staff of the state enterprise is ready for more radical actions. In particular, for blocking the routes and protests in the capital, at the President's Office," the statement said.

As Rubryka reported, on July 2, Shmyhal stated that the state was consistently fulfilling its obligations to provide a subvention for the payment of miners' salaries.
