There are about 50 Ukrainians in Afghanistan, diplomats are clarifying which of them wants to evacuate, and working out safe evacuation routes.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleh Nikolenko announced this, Ukrinform reports.

"According to the Foreign Ministry, up to 50 Ukrainians continue to be in Afghanistan. Almost all of them are in contact, diplomats are clarifying which of them wants to be evacuated. At the same time, possible ways of safe evacuation are being worked out, including the use of foreign partners. The situation is under special control," Nikolenko said.

He noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba had instructed to urgently send the Ukrainian Embassy to Dushanbe, which is responsible for Afghanistan.

"Now two Ukrainian diplomatic missions at once, in Tajikistan and Pakistan, are monitoring the situation and are ready to help our citizens," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.

As reported by Rubryka, on August 13, the Taliban captured the largest cities in Afghanistan.

On August 15, the Taliban announced the capture of all of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recommends Ukrainians not to go to Afghanistan.

Today it became known that almost 80 people were evacuated from Afghanistan by a Ukrainian plane, including 8 Ukrainians and citizens of other countries, who asked for an urgent evacuation.

At the same time, the Taliban assured that the movement "will ensure the security of citizens and diplomatic missions" and is ready for dialogue with the country's political elites. Nevertheless, the United States is sending a thousand troops to Kabul to help evacuate the Americans.
