Ukraine can take the Russian truce project as a basis, but with amendments - Kravchuk
The Ukrainian delegation to the TCG agrees that the draft agreement on the Easter truce proposed by the Russian party and control over its observance should be taken as a basis, but with Ukrainian amendments.
The head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG Leonid Kravchuk stated this on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel, Ukrinform reports.
Kravchuk said that yesterday's meeting generally supported the proposal not only to cease fire due to the Easter holidays but to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire.
In addition, the issue of improving the coordination mechanism for monitoring the violation of the ceasefire was discussed in detail.
"The first document we discussed yesterday was the proposal of the Russian party, which offered a draft of such a document. We failed to accept it not even because the content was imperfect, but because the subjects of the process and implementation of those proposals proposed by the Russian party were not clearly defined," Kravchuk said.
At the same time, he expressed the opinion that the participants of yesterday's TCG meeting had achieved "a serious move forward, only details remained."
"Just an hour ago today, I sent Ms. Heidi Grau, the OSCE representative, a draft of those additions or clarifications to the Russian project; we believe that the Russian project should be taken as a basis… with a request that there's still time to consider it. And maybe, God willing, we will make this decision because it's extremely important… In July 2020, such a document was adopted, and silence was observed throughout the territory, but recently it has been disrupted and is being demolished," Kravchuk said.
He stressed that all participants in the talks were unanimous that such a document was needed. According to him, now the OSCE Special Representative Heidi Grau should send a draft document with Ukrainian additions to Russia and representatives of ORDLO.
