Sloviansk now has the Honorary Consul of Latvia
On April 26, Oleksandr Pavenko received an exequatur, confirming the Ukrainian party's agreeing to appoint him Honorary Consul of Latvia in Sloviansk, Donetsk region. It was handed over by Myroslav Kastran, Director of the State Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of Latvia to Ukraine Juris Poikans, the Chaplain of the National Guard Volodymyr Streltsov, and the son of the Honorary Consul Volodymyr Pavenko.
The Honorary Consulate of Latvia in Sloviansk will be the first foreign honorary consulate in the Donetsk region.
Its opening is scheduled for April 30. Oleksander Pavenko will be the sixth honorary consul of Latvia in Ukraine. Honorary consulates of Latvia operate in Lviv, Chernihiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Chernivtsi.
"The Honorary Consulate in the Donetsk region will become a coordination point for implementing joint projects, educational, medical, humanitarian, etc. The consulate will also deepen cultural exchange between our countries and will be a wonderful addition to the relations that have already been formed," Juris Poikans said.
