Lithuanian President may address Rada this week
The President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, may address the Verkhovna Rada during his working visit to Ukraine on Thursday.
The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov announced this during a meeting of the Conciliation Council on Monday.
"On Thursday, Mr. Nausėda, the President of the Republic of Lithuania, will be in Ukraine. There was an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a proposal for Mr. Nausėda's speaking in the parliament," Razumkov said.
The speaker noted he had discussed this with representatives of parliamentary factions and groups, and they supported such an initiative.
"I think we'll be able to organize this process, because Lithuania is our permanent partner, a partner both in the activities of the PACE, the Baltic+ and many other international organizations, and it's a reliable partner with whom we're working on the challenges facing Ukraine, Europe, and the world today. Since we have a lot in common both history-wise and, I'm sure, in the future," the chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada said.
