Sandu spoke about the purpose of her Ukrainian visit on January 12
During meetings in Kyiv with the top leadership of Ukraine, Moldovan President Maia Sandu will discuss security in the region, reforms on the way to the EU, and delimitation of borders.
She said this in an interview with DW.
"In January, I will go to Kyiv to meet with Mr. (President of Ukraine Volodymyr) Zelenskyi. And this is just the beginning," Sandu said.
According to her, the visit's purpose is to restore relations between Moldova and Ukraine.
"We want to restore relations because there was some work at the level of governments, but at the level of presidents, there have been no meetings at all during these four years. It's important for us to restore relations," she said.
The Moldovan leader stressed that there were many specific questions that needed to be answered.
"These are both security issues in the region and our path to the European Union, the reforms we need to implement to bring our countries closer to the EU. And, of course, the issues of delimitation of borders and hydropower, that is, specific issues," Sandu said.
To recap, Sandu plans to visit Ukraine on January 12.
