Buying gifts and doing good: TOP-10 social businesses that will help any Santa!

The Christmas holidays are not just around the corner; they're here! And it's an occasion not only to celebrate but also to think about how to delight several people with one Christmas present.

Rubryka knows how to do it! We've gathered a dozen social businesses: buying goods and services from them, you pump up the level of your good deeds and social responsibility.

What is the problem?

Gifts with deep meaning

In front of you, you see a box with a neat bow, your New Year's gift! You look forward to finding a soft warm jumper, an elegant handbag, or anything else from your wish list. You're probably happy.

But you're a little overwhelmed by emotions and find a note in which says that the money spent on your gift went to the account of the fund that cares for children with cerebral palsy. Or that it was made by several grandmothers in the village, who will set their New Year's table with the earned money.

It's getting even nicer, isn't it? Belief in the New Year's miracle is being rooted in you.

What is the solution?

  • Bags, wallets, and cases from Gudzyk and grandmothers behind it

Gudzyk is a shop of felt products that combines the knowledge and experience of different generations. Here you will find wallets, felt shoppers (new, right?), laptop cases, stylish women's handbags, and home decor. Products are beautiful, minimalist, and made with love.

It is made by older women. The first craftswoman was the project author's grandmother, later it became clear that you can involve other older women and thus give them not only extra income but also a cool hobby and communication in the circle of needlewomen.

By the way, if you receive, for instance, a wallet from Gudzyk, you'll receive a note with the name of the craftswoman who sewed it, and a nice wish from her.

  • For My Relatives: aroma sachets, socks, and notebooks from six grandmothers from the village in Sumy region

For My Relatives are products for home comfort. Here you will find embroidered towels, knitted socks, notebooks made of recycled paper, and aroma sachets with a coniferous or lavender scent, and candles, and even eco-bags.

In general, you can order almost anything here, without which it's difficult to imagine home comfort! The project employs six grandmothers from nearby villages in the Sumy region. The initiator of the project, as in the previous case, is the granddaughter of one of them. She brings the necessary materials to women, takes care of their comfort, and is constantly ignited by older women's new ideas.

By the way, the project is responsible not only socially but also environmentally. For example, after buying a notebook from grannies and using it, you can buy a replacement block at a discount of 30% of the cost of the notebook.

  • "Gradus Dobra": soy candles with history

Gradus Dobra is a workshop where young people with mental disabilities create eco-candles from recycled glass bottles. The range includes a lot of different scents: from the usual lavender and sandalwood to the unusual aroma of the forest after the rain or popcorn.
