2020 Paralympics: swimmer Mereshko set a world record
Ukrainian Yelizaveta Mereshko reached the final of the 200-meter medley, setting a world Paralympic record in the qualifying swim, 2 minutes 56.90 seconds.

As it was reported, the day before Mereshko brought the first "gold" to Ukraine, having won a 50-meter freestyle.
To recap, 24 sets of awards were won on the first day of the 2020 Paralympics.
Ukrainian athletes won eight medals: one gold, five silver, and two bronze, which allows them to take 5th place in the team event.
