Solutions from Ukraine: Lviv launches ‘Vidkryti’ hub for volunteer interaction and development

Lviv has inaugurated the volunteer space "Vidkryti," designed as a hub for volunteer interaction, training, and developing volunteers' initiatives.

What is the solution?

On Saturday, March 22, the volunteer space "Vidkryti" was launched in Lviv. This facility will become a place for interaction, training, and development of volunteers and their initiatives.

From now on, volunteers from any corner of Ukraine can:

• hold their events for free,
• attend training courses.

How does it work?

The space was created by the Ukrainian Volunteer Service in cooperation with the Lviv European Integration Bureau, with the support of UNICEF and UNHCR.

The major renovation was done thanks to grant funds, particularly from international donors.

"This space is another step towards a strong, united community. Here, volunteers can learn, collaborate, and implement important initiatives. Thank you to all partners for their support.

Lviv has been and will be a city of open hearts," Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovy said during the opening.

The location occupies 370.4 sq m and consists of:

• a main hall for holding events for 50 people,
• a co-working area where anyone can work,
• two meeting rooms,
• an administrative building of the Ukrainian Volunteer Service.

The space is also open to cooperation with educational institutions, involving young people in volunteer activities.

It is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00 at 37 Yefremova St., Lviv.

For reference:

Ukrainian Volunteer Service NGO is a public organization that has been cultivating a volunteer culture in Ukraine since 2017. The organization expands volunteer opportunities through the National Volunteer Platform, teaches at educational programs, and supports volunteers from different regions of Ukraine.

It is worth mentioning that more than 150 Lviv institutions have introduced discounts or special offers for veterans and military personnel in various areas – from public catering or entertainment to medicine and construction.

In addition, the largest UNBROKEN Prosthetics and Orthotics Center in the country was opened in Lviv, which will provide more than 1,200 patients with modern prostheses per year.

Also, the second aromatorium in Europe, a sensory space for developing the sense of smell in children with visual impairments, has opened in Lviv Special School No. 100. This is an essential step in the development of inclusive education in Ukraine.
