Ukraine honors fallen heroes as 250 defenders’ bodies finally returned home

Due to the repatriation efforts, 250 deceased defenders were brought back to Ukraine.

The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported this.

Therefore, it was possible to repatriate the bodies of the fallen defenders from fronts in Luhansk, Bakhmut, Maryiinka, Avdiivka, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia, as well as from Mariupol, Horlivka, and morgues located in the territory of the aggressor state, back to their home country

The repatriation of the bodies took place with the assistance of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Ministry of Reintegration, the Commissioner for Missing Persons in cooperation with the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Central Security Service of Ukraine's armed forces, other law enforcement agencies, departments, and international organizations.

The transfer of bodies of fallen soldiers is carried out in accordance with the norms of the Geneva Conventions.

The bodies and remains of Ukraine's defenders will be brought back to their home country and taken to specific government facilities. Representatives from law enforcement agencies and forensic medical experts will work together to identify the victims. Once identified, the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers will be returned to their families for a respectful funeral service.
