Rebuilding Ukraine: USAID initiatives restore over 11,000 km of telecom networks and bring Internet back to 1,300 providers
The United States aided in restoring over 11,000 km of telecom networks and reinstating internet access to nearly 1,300 providers in Ukraine through USAID initiatives.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science and Technologies—Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, reported this on Telegram.
"The USA is a strategic partner of Ukraine not only in military and economic terms but also in reconstruction. In particular, through USAID projects, the States are helping to digitalize reconstruction, make it transparent, and restore the telecom infrastructure," Fedorov emphasized after the visit to Irpin with the USAID Agency for International Development delegation.

The minister reminded that, among other things, the city's telecommunication infrastructure was destroyed.
It was restored thanks to USAID's support, which provided the Internet Association of Ukraine with 30 laboratories and sets of tools for repairing and maintaining fiber optic lines through the USAID project "Cybersecurity of Critically Important Infrastructure of Ukraine."

This enabled internet providers to repair everything promptly.
"In total, USAID helped Ukraine restore more than 11,000 km of networks and provided fiber optic connections for 1,294 Internet providers, in particular, in frontline communities, where it is essential to stay connected," Fedorov added.
For reference:
As reported, as of February 24, 2022, USAID has provided $16.75 billion in direct budget support, $1.4 billion in humanitarian aid, and more than $1 billion in development assistance.
It should be noted that the USAID project "Economic Support of Ukraine" purchased equipment for modernizing the laboratory in several disciplines for the needs of the State Educational Institution "Hadiach Agrarian School" in the Poltava region.
