Ukrainian bank monobank introduces "Combat Tip" option allowing clients to donate to army at restaurants
Ukrainian bank monobank has introduced a new feature called "Combat Tips," which allows customers to donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine when visiting cafes and restaurants.
Now, every establishment can contribute to the needs of the Ukrainian military, according to the bank co-founder Oleh Horokhovskyi, Rubryka reports.
What's the problem?
Every day, Ukrainians open dozens of fundraisers for the needs of the military. Thermal imagers, vehicles, drones — all of this becomes expendable material in the war, so soldiers constantly need support.
To ease the work of volunteers, Ukrainians are cultivating a habit of making a daily donation to the army.
What's the solution?
monobank has introduced a new feature for contactless payments. Now, visitors to establishments can leave not only tips but also "combat tips" for the needs of the Ukrainian military.

How does it work?
Horokhovskyi revealed that Ukrainians leave over ₴100 million in tips each month as a token of appreciation in cafes and restaurants. However, citizens would not have this opportunity if it weren't for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the monobank co-founder said.
It is the reason why monobank created "Combat Tips." They explain:
"It's like tipping, but while tips are gratitude for service, combat tips' are gratitude for life."
The bank stressed:
"If it weren't for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the tables in restaurants would always be empty. And there probably wouldn't be tables at all. Remember this with every cup of coffee. And leave not only tips for those who serve us but also combat tips for those who make this coffee possible."
The bank aims for Ukraine to become the first country in the world where leaving "combat tips" becomes a daily habit in addition to regular tips.
So now, when paying the bill via QR code at a restaurant that activates the bank's new service, a new screen — "Combat Tips" — will appear after the tipping screen, where visitors can express their gratitude for the protection soldiers give them.
The money will be used for the direct needs of the military. Each establishment can create its own online jar for donation, and then the "combat tips" will be directed to those soldiers that particular businesses support.
Horokhovskyi added that you should contact your account manager to activate "Combat Tips" in your establishment. Establishments not yet connected to "expirenza by mono" can register via this link.
In related news, over 80% of Ukrainians continue to donate and volunteer regularly.
Earlier, Rubryka reported that in 2023, Ukrainians donated ₴27.4 billion, which is more than three times higher than the previous year's ₴8.5 billion.
Anatolii Berchanov from Kharkiv, together with like-minded people and with the support of the company N-iX, developed the Donatta app for donating to Ukrainian defenders in the form of a game.
