Ukraine will overcome aid pause from US amid disagreements in Congress – Zelensky
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Latin American media that Ukraine will be able to overcome the pause in aid from the US, which was caused by disagreements in Congress. He also noted that Russia is always involved in conflicts that break out worldwide. This is also relevant for the countries of Latin America.
Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in an interview with Latin American media.
During his visit to Buenos Aires, the head of state interviewed Latin American mass media representatives.
He stated that Ukraine is interested in Argentina playing one of the key roles in the peace formula.
"I am very interested in the unification of Latin America around Ukraine. For us, it is unification around the truth. I am interested in the Ukraine-Latin America summit. And here, I would like Javier Milei to help us activate and organize such a platform," the president said.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine and Argentina can work in security, digitalization, energy, and trade. But the issue of safety remains number one.
The Ukrainian president also stated that Russia is always directly or indirectly involved in the conflicts that are breaking out in different parts of the world today. In particular, the issue of security is also relevant to Latin America.
Zelensky also explained that he chose Argentina first for his visit because he saw the clear position of the new president regarding Ukraine. In addition, Argentina is one of the largest countries in the region, so it is seen as a leader.
The head of the Ukrainian state was asked whether he was upset that the US could provide less aid to Ukraine.
"I am not upset because I did not lose this battle. We are not the kind of people who give up in the face of difficulties. Someone starts to panic and does not believe in victory, so we need to pull ourselves together and move on," Zelensky emphasized.
The president recalled that he has several meetings scheduled in the US in the coming days, including with President Joe Biden.
"And we will work to overcome this pause in US aid to Ukraine. We will overcome this and not only this. We will overcome everything," Zelensky emphasized.
