Vinnytsia veteran runs US Marine Corps Marathon on prosthetic leg
On Sunday, October 29, Roman Kashpur, a veteran from Vinnytsia, ran the US Marine Corps Marathon on a prosthesis. The next goal is the New York marathon.
Roman Kashpur wrote about this on Facebook.
"Well, friends, that's the finish line for today! Mission not yet accomplished because in seven days, next Sunday, I'll be feeling the drive of the 42km race again! New York, wait for me!" Kashpur wrote.
According to him, overcoming the distance of the US Marine Corps Marathon on a prosthesis "was cool, it was hardcore."
His wife, Yulia, ran this marathon with him.

Roman plans to run a marathon in New York on November 5.
Thus, he will overcome a distance of 42 km on the prosthesis twice a week.
As the veteran reported earlier, he wants to motivate seriously wounded comrades with his marathon runs and to show that life goes on no matter what.

In addition, during marathons in the USA, he collects funds that will go to the "Citizen Charity Foundation" for prosthetics of the upper limb of a fighter with the call sign "Malyi".
In addition to the US Marine Corps Marathon, Roman Kashpur is currently running the 43rd London Marathon and the Brussels Half Marathon, which he ran on a prosthesis this spring.
He became the first of the Ukrainian veterans who overcame the full marathon distance on a prosthesis.
For reference:
At 19 years old, Roman Kashpur volunteered to fight and was deployed near Mariinka in 2022. Sadly, he lost a limb to a mine explosion, but he didn't let that stop him. Despite his injury, he turned to sports, and within a year, he achieved an incredible feat by winning the "Hero Games." And just last month, in December of 2021, he broke a national record for Ukraine by pulling a massive 16-ton aircraft 6.4 meters in just 44 seconds.
After a full-scale invasion, he again went to defend the country; half a year later, he returned home to the city of Khmilnyk and took up volunteering and sports.
Rubryka reported that Roman Kashpur, a Ukrainian veteran from the Vinnytsia region, will take part in the New York Marathon and the US Marine Corps Marathon. He intended to run the 42-kilometer distance on the prosthesis twice weekly.
Earlier, it was reported that Roman Kashpur, a veteran from Vinnytsia who lost a limb in the war, ran the 43rd London Marathon (TCS London Marathon) with a prosthesis on April 23 and the Brussels half-marathon on May 28.
