The fire was allegedly fired from a tank from the side of the temporarily occupied Kakhovka. At the moment, five people are known to be injured. Three people are in serious condition. They will be evacuated to Kherson, where doctors will provide the victims with the necessary medical assistance," the statement says.
The head of the region also reported that over the past day, January 1, the russian occupiers shelled the territory of the Kherson region 71 times. One person was killed, and four residents of the Kherson region were severely wounded.

Situation in Kherson region
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the russian invaders were shelling the temporarily occupied settlements of the Kherson region. They want to destabilize the humanitarian situation and force residents to so-called "voluntary evacuation."
"To destabilize the humanitarian situation in the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region and to force the local population into the so-called 'voluntary evacuation,' the russian occupying forces are firing mortars at Oleshky, Hola Prystan, Plavni, as well as country settlements between the mentioned settlements," the message reads.
The General Staff also reports ongoing mobilization measures in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Military enlistment offices have started checking lists of people who have not yet participated in a large-scale invasion of Ukraine and are subject to conscription for mobilization in 2023.
According to the summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops are regrouping in the Kherson direction and defending themselves in Novopavlovske and Zaporizhzhia. They are trying to continue offensive actions near Bakhmut. At the same time, they are trying to improve their tactical position in the Kupiansk, Lyman, and Avdiivka directions.
During the day, the enemy carried out 35 airstrikes. In particular, they used the Shahed-136 UAV, all of which were shot down by units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Also, the russian occupiers fired 16 rounds from rocket launchers, particularly at a children's hospital in the city of Kherson.
In the Kherson direction, the civilian infrastructure of the settlements of Havrylivka, Dudchany, Kachkarivka, Respublikanets, Beryslav, Lvove, Ivanivka, Inhulets, Inzhenerne, Antonivka, and Kherson were damaged by enemy fire.
