Erdogan: Turkey is ready to become a guarantor of security for Ukraine
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that his country is ready to become one of the guarantors of security for Ukraine, but the details need to be clarified.
The Turkish channel NTV reported this.
Erdogan said the talks in Istanbul, where Ukraine submitted a written proposal to Russia to end the war, gave "significant impetus" to the process.
He again offered to receive the presidents of Ukraine and Russia for talks.
"We can be one of the guarantor countries in ensuring Ukraine's security; but, of course, the details need to be clarified," Erdogan said.
Note
Earlier, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that Germany was ready to guarantee Ukraine's security, but said that the war was continuing and that a breakthrough in peace talks had not yet taken place.
Britain will consider Ukraine's request to be a guarantor of its security but excludes commitments that NATO members have within the Alliance.
