ATB is one of the three largest discounters in Central and Eastern Europe
Ukrainian retailers ATB and Aurora are among the leading discounters (stores with a wide range of discounted prices – ed.) in Central and Eastern Europe.
This is stated in the study of commercial real estate and discounters market Colliers ExCEEding Borders Retail Report 2021.
There are more than 30 food discounter networks in the region.
- By the number of stores, the leading retailer is Biedronka with more than 3,100 stores in Poland.
- The German chain Lidl ranks second with more than 2,000 stores.
- The largest chain in Ukraine ATB with about 1270 stores ranks third.
"Discounter is a very clear model: clear, standardized stores with a stable set of products. Due to this, discounters are focused on minimizing the cost of opening new locations. Discount operators can afford denser coverage and are closer to their consumers," said the leading expert of Colliers Ukraine in the segment of commercial real estate Ihor Zabolotskyi.
Among non-food discounters, Pepco has the largest number of stores, followed by KIK. Ukrainian Aurora took third place. It has 650 stores in Ukraine.
According to Zabolotskyi, in Ukraine, food and non-food discounters are opened mostly in regional and small cities close to the target audience.
