Euro 2020: today Ukrainian national team will play against Austria
Ukraine's national football team will hold its third match in the final tournament of the XVI European Championship on Monday, June 21.
Andrii Shevchenko's teammates will meet with the Austrian national team at the Arena Nacional in Bucharest (Romania), Rubryka reports.
The match at 19.00 (Kyiv time) will be shown on "Ukraine" and "Football 1" TV channels.
This is the third meeting of the national teams. The previous two were friendly. The sparring matches took place in the 2011/12 season: the Ukrainians beat Austria at the Lviv Arena with 2:1, losing in Innsbruck with 2:3.
Both teams have three points after two rounds, while the Dutch team with six points secured first place in Group C. Ukraine lost to the Dutch at the start with 2:3, but then defeated Northern Macedonia with 2:1. The Austrians, in turn, beat the Macedonians (3:1) and lost to the Netherlands (0:2).
Ukraine has enough draws to take second place. Austria must win to be second.
The footballers of the Netherlands and Northern Macedonia will meet in a parallel match of the C quartet in Amsterdam.
Tournament position:
- The Netherlands has 6 points (goal difference – 5:2),
- Ukraine with 3 (4:4),
- Austria with 3 (3:3),
- Northern Macedonia has 0 (2:5).
The first two teams of each group will go to the Euro 2020 playoffs, as well as the four best teams from among those who'll take third place in their quartets.
The matches of the 1/8 finals will take place on June 26-29, the quarterfinals will take place on July 2 and 3, the semifinals will happen on July 6 and 7. There will be no match for third place.
The final of the European Championship on July 11 will be hosted by Wembley Stadium in London (England).
