Shakhtar sensationally beat Real Madrid in the Champions League
On Wednesday, October 21, Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk met at the Alfredo di Stéfano Stadium in Madrid as part of the first round of the group stage of the Champions League.
Kryvtsov, Stepanenko, Bolbat, Kovalenko, Matvienko, Tyson, Alan Patrick, and Júnior Moraes could not help the Ukrainian team in Spain, but this didn't prevent the Donetsk team from playing an incredible first half.
Donetsk made three striking attacks. Tetê opened the score. An own goal allowed Shakhtar to double the advantage, and Solomon scored the third goal and sent the hosts to the knockdown before the break.
Real began the second half with the goal thanks to a long-range shot by Modrić. Later, Vinícius Júnior came on as a substitute and reduced the gap of the Spaniards to one goal with the first touch.
Shakhtar's players became less and less strong, and Real increased the pressure on Donetsk's gate. In extra time, Valverde got in a productive strike. The ball bounced off Sudakov between the legs of the Shakhtar goalkeeper. The referee suspected Vinícius of offside and looked at the VAR. After that, he canceled the goal. This allowed the miners to win a historic victory.
