New traffic rules: what a driver should know about in 2021

In 2021, new traffic regulations will begin to operate; some of them will be brought in line with European ones. Drivers will also face higher fines and tougher criminal liability. We've collected all the information about the new regulations: those that have already entered into force and those that will only be introduced.

Drivers who transport children in cars should pay attention to the changes made to the traffic rules regarding the movement of children in car seats. The new regulations introduce European approaches and transport rules.

Previously, restrictions were established for children who are less than 145 cm tall and children under 12 years old. Now the age limit has been removed from the rules and the use of child restraint systems in the car is mandatory when transporting children whose height is less than 145 cm.

The norm doesn't apply to regular and irregular passenger bus transportations, provided that the established speed limits are observed, and ambulances, operational vehicles of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior Affairs, the National Police, the State Emergency Service, the State Border Service, the Security Service, the State Security Department during performing an official assignment.

The norm has already entered into force. If it's not observed, the driver will be fined 510 hryvnias.
