“Ukrainian flag will remain here forever”: how Ukrainian fortress of Bakhmut lives

The battle for Bakhmut will forever go down in history as a page of the heroic indomitability of Ukrainians. The Ukrainian Armed Forces defend the Ukrainian "eastern fortress" every day, and despite heavy battles and losses, they stand firm in protecting it.

"No one is going to surrender the city. It is cold in the trenches, it can be as low as -20, but the boys stand and hold on. No one is going to give up. The flag of Ukraine will remain here forever," said one of the military personnel in the city.

But Bakhmut is not only military. Despite the difficult situation and constant shelling, civilians remain here.

Peaceful life continues against the background of destroyed and mutilated buildings.

In Bakhmut, you can constantly hear the cannonade from the explosions and the shooting battle. Every day there are dangerous landmines.

But even in these conditions, Ukrainian defenders find an opportunity to delight children with goodies.
