Pinsel with psychotherapeutic effect: why go to “Catharsis” exhibition?

A very special exhibition is being held in Kyiv: with icons carved of wood by a sculptor who's not an icon painter. An interesting combination? More further. Two of the presented works are exhibited in Kyiv for the first time, and some have never been exhibited to the public at all. And the work of one of the authors is in the collection of Pope Francis. It's the work of Oleksandr Zhyvotkov, an original artist, our contemporary, who experiments with non-traditional materials. The other two heroes of the exhibition are Johann-Georg Pinsel and Franciszek Olędzki, Galician sculptors who worked in the eighteenth century. The works of the first were seen by everyone who has ever been to Lviv and seen a rider at St. George's Cathedral, and the second one is a mysterious hero of Ukrainian art because almost nothing is known from his biography.
