The Prosecutor General's Office published statistics: as of August 28, 30,560 cases of russian war crimes were registered (the absolute majority of them under the article on violations of the laws and customs of war). Another 14,279 cases were opened concerning crimes against national security—encroachment on territorial integrity, treason, and collaborative activity.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces do not stop doing things to the occupiers. The South operational command reports eight strikes on the enemy by our aircraft over the past day. Enemy losses:

  • 41 occupants
  • two UAVs
  • T-72 tank
  • Uragan MLRS
  • Pantsir-S1 anti-aicraft system

  • electronic warfare station
  • Six armored vehicles

Key findings from the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) as of August 28:

  • russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensives northwest of Sloviansk.
  • russian forces conducted local ground attacks southeast of Bakhmut and west of Donetsk.
  • The occupying forces attacked Ukrainian positions north of Kharkiv.
  • During the past day, russian forces did not advance in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Today is the Day of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine who died for Independence. Let's honor and remember them! As long as their memory lives on and the struggle continues, Ukraine is and will be!

Atomic facilities

russia is manipulating reports about the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in temporarily occupied Enerhodar to prevent the International Atomic Energy Agency mission there, according to a report by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

ISW experts draw attention to the fact that russia has blocked the approval of the final document of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), which, in particular, criticized the capture by russian troops of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, the ZNNP. Experts compared russia's strategy with that used by Iran.

At the same time, the IAEA mission is already on its way to Ukraine. The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, said that the group he personally leads is already on its way to the station.

While the IAEA is on its way, Energoatom reports that as of 10:00 a.m., the Zaporizhzhia NPP is operating with the risk of violating radiation and fire safety standards. During the last day, the russian occupiers continued to shell Enerhodar and the site of the ZNPP. As a result of this, ten peaceful residents of Enerhodar received injuries of varying degrees of severity. Four of them were employees of the nuclear plant.

News from partners

A meeting of EU defense ministers is to be held in Prague today. They will discuss the possibility of opening training centers for the Ukrainian military in countries neighboring Ukraine by analogy with such centers in Great Britain.

At the same time, the EU countries will not decide on a visa ban for russians. The EU's chief diplomat, Josep Borrell, said that there is no unanimous support for a decision on a complete ban on issuing visas to russian citizens

Borrell also stated that, in his opinion, it is much more efficient for the EU countries to finance their armies than to develop the armed forces of the union.

Life considering hostilities

Ukrainian world boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk was awarded the Order of Merit, 1st degree. In total, Volodymyr Zelensky awarded almost 300 people on the occasion of Independence Day.
