Solutions to win: Unmanned Systems Forces begin recruitment for ‘Harpy’ female unit

The Unmanned Systems Forces have announced the recruitment of female service members for the "Harpy" unit.

The Unmanned Systems Forces reported this on social networks.

"Harpy is a community for women determined to exact revenge on the enemy and safeguard their children, families, and nation using unmanned and robotic systems," the military describes the unit.

The Unmanned Systems Forces explained that men will also be involved in the unit, but only women will be drone pilots.

The post noted that the "Harpy" unit is led by a military woman named Dariia, known by the pseudonym DShK. She previously participated in the Revolution of Dignity and has been fighting against Russian invaders as part of various special forces since 2022.

Women interested in joining the unit can expect:

  • Professional training: 45 days of basic military preparation, over 30 days of specialized training, and crew coordination before combat missions.
  • Diverse equipment options: FPV helicopters, heavy bombers, "wing" type strike UAVs, and ground robotic complexes.
  • Competitive financial security and social guarantees as per current legislation.

"There is a possibility of transferring active servicewomen or mobilizing reservists," the unit specified.

"Harpy" servicewomen guarantee getting into the chosen position. Use the link to fill out the application form.

For reference:
It should be noted that Ukraine's armed forces appointed a gender advisor—Oksana Hryhorieva, a public figure and former gender advisor to the Ground Forces Command of Ukraine's armed forces.

As reported, women have become an integral part of the Ukrainian army. They serve in various military specialties: medics, signalers, snipers, etc. As of January 1, 2025, more than 70,000 women serve in Ukraine's armed forces, 20% more than in 2022.

According to Deputy Minister of Defense Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk, more than 5,500 female service members are currently directly on the front lines. In total, 7.3% of the Ukrainian army's personnel are now women.

Since the start of the work of the Ukrainian army's recruiting centers, 36,760 citizens have received consultations on entering military service. 8,053 of them have already become candidates for the Defense Forces, 20% of whom are women.

Moreover, the online platform Prometheus launched a free certified course titled "Equality of Women and Men in Ukraine's Armed Forces: Policy and Practice."
