Ukrainian army is the best guarantee of Ukraine’s security — Polish FM

The best guarantee of Ukraine's security in the event of a ceasefire with Russia is the strength of the Ukrainian army.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski made this statement in an interview with TVN 24, as reported by European Pravda, while discussing measures to ensure Ukraine's security.

Commenting on the March 27 meeting in Paris of the "coalition of the willing" leaders, Sikorski noted that the coalition is considering the potential deployment of "deterrence forces" in Ukraine in the future.

"Poland will be part of this coalition, but not physically present in Ukraine," he clarified.

He also mentioned that discussions are ongoing at various levels, including military representatives in the UK and political leaders in Paris. "These concepts are still in the coordination stage," he said.

At the same time, Sikorski stressed that Ukraine's strongest security guarantee is its own army.

"On our side stands the largest army in Europe, battle-hardened and experienced in this new type of warfare involving millions of drones," he emphasized.

"Coalition of the Willing" Summit

On March 27, state leaders met to discuss support for Ukraine in deterring Russian aggression and securing a just and lasting peace. Before the Coalition of the Willing summit began, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a brief meeting at the Élysée Palace.

Discussions focused on maintaining steadfast support for Ukraine, strengthening its army, and developing its defense-industrial complex—key elements in ensuring the country's security.

Speaking on the sidelines of the summit, Macron stated that the foreign ministers of Ukraine's partner countries have three weeks to develop plans for monitoring a potential ceasefire.

Additionally, the French leader announced that a Franco-British delegation would soon visit Ukraine to discuss the future of the Ukrainian army and explore the possibility of a peacekeeping mission.

President Zelensky also noted that the role of "guarantee forces" in Ukraine would include training Ukrainian troops and facilitating technology exchanges.
