Actress Jolie supports 14-year-old Ukrainian girl injured in Russian strike

American actress Angelina Jolie called and handed over a note with words of support to a 14-year-old Ukrainian girl, Polina from the Kharkiv region, who was injured by Russian shelling.

In February 2025, Polina was injured as a result of a Russian missile strike.

Due to injuries, the girl is temporarily unable to walk.

Polina is currently being treated at Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv. Talking to psychologists, the girl admitted that she dreams of meeting actress Angelina Jolie.

When the American star learned about the story of the 14-year-old Ukrainian girl, she called her and handed her a card with words of support.

"We did everything possible to help make her second dream come true.

The American actress communicated with Polina online and gave her a note," United24 noted.

The girl's biggest dream is to walk again. Ukrainian doctors are helping her with this.

In April 2022, the famous American actress and UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie visited Ukraine. The star was then spotted in one of the cafes in Lviv.

The star has supported Ukraine since the beginning of the war and called on the world to help refugees.

"In addition to the millions who have fled Ukraine, an estimated 2 million are internally displaced, many trapped by the fighting, deprived of access to aid, and in direct physical danger. If the war is not stopped, children will pay the highest price – trauma, lost childhoods, and shattered lives," Angelina wrote.

A month earlier, Jolie was in Rome, where she visited Ukrainian children in a local hospital.

Later, actress Jolie shared her impressions of meeting the children of the war in Lviv. The Hollywood star showed off a "special pebble" – a piece of shrapnel a Ukrainian girl found.

"When I was in Lviv a few days ago, I was shown a 'special pebble' found by a little girl. The little girl who found it didn't realize that the pebble she was playing with was actually a piece of shrapnel from a bomb.

It lies in the palm of your hand, jagged and heavier than you might expect. Its shine and unusual appearance must have caught the child's attention," Angelina wrote.

Jolie emphasized that children during war not only suffer physically, but also suffer emotional and mental trauma.

"The fight to end the war, which Ukraine is suffering from, is a pursuit to reduce the number of victims who die, are injured, lose their homes, and are traumatized every day," the actress emphasized.

Earlier, Rubryka reported on 15-year-old Sashko, a Ukrainian boy from Novohryhorivka in the Mykolaiv region, who now has a home again after it was rebuilt following its destruction by Russian forces. 

Sashko appeared in the music video for Imagine Dragons' song "Crushed," which was shot in Ukraine in 2022 and included footage from Novohryhorivka during the full-scale invasion.
