United to win: Drone Coalition grants €20 mln for Ukraine’s reconnaissance drones

The partner countries of the Drone Coalition have agreed to allocate €20 million from a joint fund to Ukraine. This funding will be used to procure tactical-level reconnaissance UAVs (ISR) for Ukraine's armed forces.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this.

The delivery of equipment is expected within three months.

"We are grateful to our partners for responding to a critical need. Prompt response and flexibility in making this decision are essential, especially when the Defense Forces really need them.

Thanks to them, the military can scout the area and increase the situational awareness of their units, which is vital for successful combat operations," Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digitalization, said.

It should be noted that in February, the Drone Coalition launched the third international tender for multi-rotor reconnaissance drones. For the second time, Ukrainian developers were able to participate in it. The acceptance of applications for the tender has ended, and the first selection stage is underway.

The United Kingdom and Latvia jointly lead the Drone Capability Coalition. Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden also provided funding.

To date, the fund has collected about 73 million pounds sterling. In addition, more than 1.3 billion pounds sterling is currently in the International Fund for Ukraine, which the United Kingdom manages.

It is worth recalling that Portugal and Germany contributed funds to the International Fund for Ukraine for the first time.

The establishment of the Drone and Electronic Warfare Coalition was announced on January 18. Currently, the coalition comprises 16 partner countries.

Latvia initiated the creation of the Coalition. The initiative was announced during a December 2023 meeting between Latvia's Defense Minister, Andris Sprūds, and the Ukrainian Defense Minister, Rustem Umierov.
