United to win: US to provide Ukraine with new $500 mln aid package

The United States of America is allocating a new $500 million military aid package to Ukraine.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced this during his speech at the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in the Ramstein format.

"I am announcing today a new aid package… worth $500 million," Austin said.

He explained that it includes:

• additional missiles for Ukrainian air defense,
• ammunition, including air-to-ground,
• equipment for F-16s, etc.

"Here, at Ramstein, I am committed to doing everything I can to help Ukraine live in freedom and security. Together, our work must continue.

Here is the fundamental truth: Ukraine's struggle is essential to all of us," Austin said.

It should be noted that this is the last aid package to Ukraine announced by the current Joe Biden administration before Donald Trump's team comes to power.

Thus, about $3.8 billion for the PDA program will remain unused despite the White House's promises to spend the entire amount by the end of Biden's term.

As reported in the Pentagon, these funds will be transferred to Donald Trump after his inauguration on January 20.

The Pentagon noted that the new Donald Trump administration will be able to use them to support Ukraine if it decides to do so.

Moreover, it was recently reported that the United States may announce a significant military aid package to Ukraine. This will probably take place during Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin's visit to Germany on January 9 for a meeting in the Ramstein format.
