During the 2024 Boris Paton National Prize of Ukraine presentation, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ruta is currently undergoing successful testing. While specific information about this new development is undisclosed, it has been revealed that it is the product of the Destinus startup.
Destinus, which Mikhail Kokorych founded after he left Russia and created a groundbreaking platform in Europe, is actively supporting Ukraine. In January 2024, it was announced that Destinus will provide our country with Lord propeller drones that can fly up to 2,000 km. In addition, deliveries of the Ruta drone missiles began earlier this year.
Technical features of Ruta
The Ruta missile is a jet drone that can carry out attack and surveillance missions and is also used as a training target. It has a flight range of 300 km and can reach speeds of 500-800 km/h. One of its notable characteristics is its versatility and cost-effectiveness in terms of size, speed, and payload.

Destinus also released diagrams of the Ruta design, which showcase all of its key components:
– Warhead;
– Fixed wing;
– Fuel tank;
– Electronics unit;
– Small turbojet engine.
A rocket booster is used to launch the missile, and Ruta can return to base and land with the help of a parachute.

"And the development is positioned anyway, like a drone, which can have a different payload, for example, reconnaissance, the ability to return and land on a parachute," Defense Express states.
So, as the article sums up, the main benefit and ability of Ruta is its ability to fly at high speeds between 500 and 800 km/h, which decreases the effectiveness of Russian counterparts of mobile fire teams and completely eliminates helicopters from the list of Russian "anti-drone" air defense.
