According to hromadske, the fund published footage of the explosions on social networks.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that from 05:00 a.m. to 07:00 a.m., Russian troops attacked the city of Dnipro with missiles of various types.
Specifically, a long-range ballistic missile was launched from the Astrakhan region of Russia. According to "Ukrainian Pravda," the Russians hit their target using a medium-range RS–26 "Rubezh" missile.
In addition, a Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile was launched from a MiG-31K fighter jet in the Tambov region, and 7 Kh-101 cruise missiles were launched from Tu-95MS strategic bombers (the launch area was Volgograd region).
The day before, information was spreading in Telegram channels about the possibility of a strike on Ukraine with an RS-26 "Rubezh" missile.
The US, Spanish, Italian, and Greek embassies in Ukraine issued a warning of a potential large-scale airstrike and temporarily shut down their diplomatic facilities.
Russian forces targeted businesses and vital infrastructure within the city. Russia claimed that they had attacked the Yuzhmash factory in Dnipro. The Ukrainian authorities did not make a statement, but the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration confirmed that an industrial facility had suffered damage.
In reaction, drones attacked the Astrakhan region of Russia, the site of the missile launch. Online reports claimed an attack occurred at the Kapustin Yar missile range, which houses the RS-26 Rubezh missile systems. However, Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, declined to verify this information.
"According to the official pages of the Air Force, information is available on all flights, including those from Kapustin Yar, in terms of their destination and the targets that were hit or missed. However, no additional information or details are expected from the Air Force about the recent missile attack. We appreciate your understanding," he noted.
For reference:
The RS-26 Rubezh is an Ossetian project of a mobile ground-based strategic missile complex with an intercontinental ballistic missile. The Russian Federation stated that the missile could be launched at a range of 2,000-6,000 km.
The United States believes this complex falls under the restrictions established by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. For example, during a briefing on November 21, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova received a call asking her not to comment on the recent ballistic missile strikes on Ukraine.
According to published data, the RS-26 is 23 m long and 2 m in diameter. The missile weighs 40-50 tons, and the entire launch complex (a self-propelled launcher on a six-axle MZKT-79291 together with the missile) weighs 80 tons.
"Militarnyi" writes that "Rubezh" was designed exclusively for nuclear equipment. Its warhead weighing 1000-1200 kg should be equipped with several (from three to six) individually guided warheads with a capacity of hundreds of kilotons (most often, 3-4 blocks of 300 kt are indicated).
As reported, on November 21, a large-scale air raid alert was declared in Ukraine in the morning. Its cause was the takeoff of a MiG-31K aircraft in Russia.
Russia also raised Tu-95 bombers and launched missiles. The movement of enemy missiles was recorded in the Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, and Poltava regions.
On the morning of November 21, the enemy launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, Kinzhal, and seven Kh-101 cruise missiles over the Dnipro River, while anti-aircraft missile troops units destroyed six Kh-101 missiles.
Two people were injured. The enterprise and the Rehabilitation Center for People with Disabilities were also damaged.
