Death toll rises to 10, including two children, due to Russian missile strikes in Sumy

The death toll in Sumy has increased to 10 following Russian missile strikes late on the evening of November 17. This includes two children, while 52 people have also been injured. Around midnight on November 18, there was another explosion near the city, causing power outages. Before this, the detection of an enemy missile headed towards the region's center was noted.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that.

On November 18, after midnight, another explosion was heard near the city of Sumy, after which problems with electricity appeared in the city. Before that, the movement of an enemy missile toward the regional center was recorded.

The explosion in Sumy was heard at around 12:06 a.m.

The military had just issued a warning a few minutes before about the Russian occupiers potentially using ballistic weapons from the northeast at the same time.

In addition, a missile was recorded moving towards the city of Sumy.

It is also worth noting that enemy strike drones were also observed in the Sumy region, particularly in the Konotop district.

According to the media and Sumy Telegram channels, electricity partially went out of Sumy after the explosion.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that Russian terrorists fired missiles at the city's critical infrastructure at approximately 12:01 a.m.

According to the preliminary data, the enemy used a ballistic missile for the attack.

A power outage in Sumy has been reported, and emergency services are responding.

"The consequences of the strike are being established," the administration added.

It's worth mentioning that this attack took place just a few hours after the missile strike on a residential area in Sumy, where a strike also occurred near a nine-story building.

According to the latest data, ten people died in that missile attack in Sumy, including two children. More than 50 citizens were injured.

"Unfortunately, ten people died as a result of the attack, including two children. 51 people were injured, including five children," the report says.

Later, the Sumy Regional Military Administration head, Volodymyr Artiukh, reported 52 injured.

Rescue workers and essential services are still working at the site of the tragedy. Over 400 residents have been evacuated from damaged buildings, and the State Emergency Service set up an invincibility point.

SES psychologists assist victims. In addition:

  • the windows of six ten-story buildings were damaged,
  • four cars were destroyed.

A thorough inspection of all damaged buildings, from house to house, is currently underway to search every corner and locate any injured individuals.
