Russian forces shell Konotop, causing civil and energy infrastructure damage and injuring 13 people

On the night of September 12, the Russian occupiers attacked Konotop in the Sumy region. As a result of the enemy shelling of the city, the objects of civil and energy infrastructure were damaged. 13 people were injured. In the Khmelnytskyi region, explosions were heard several times during the night. The air defense successfully took down all Russian drones launched towards the capital.

The mayor of Konotop, Artem Semenikhin, and Suspilne reported that.

Attack on Konotop

On the night of September 11 to 12, the Russian Federation launched an attack on the city of Konotop in the Sumy region. Following the explosions, the mayor of Konotop reported that the enemy had targeted the city's infrastructure, causing power and water outages and damaging residential buildings in the downtown area.

Due to the attack, there are also casualties. As of roughly 2:40 a.m., two people were hospitalized. One of them is in critical condition, namely in a coma. The exact number of wounded individuals is still unknown.

Semenikhin also reported that there were not enough fire brigades.

"We currently have a shortage of fire brigades. In particular, we are utilizing fire trucks donated by the Poles and using fire trucks from neighboring cities," the Konotop mayor said.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the city is currently using backup power sources to supply water to the network due to a water shortage to put out the fire.

"Everything is ready; people are working," Semenikhin added.

He called on residents to stock up on water, as the supply would be cut off sometime in the morning.

Furthermore, he mentioned that arrangements have been made to relocate those whose homes were damaged to temporary accommodations.

At 3:07 a.m., the mayor of Konotop announced the restriction of tram movement in the city today, September 12, due to the enemy's damage to the tram track.

The Konotop mayor recently shared a new video announcing that details about transportation for people would soon be available. At the same time, the officials were figuring out who and where should be picked up to find accommodations for the night and where to stay.

"People who lost their homes, apartments, and housing will be provided today. Today, they will have a place to spend the night," Semenikhin said.

He mentioned that they are working to fix the water supply problem, and the generators have already been turned on.

The mayor also commented on the energy situation. Semenikhin stressed that the issue is quite challenging. However, if anyone needs to charge a device or use the Internet, he encouraged locals to visit the designated Invincibility Points, which are already operational.

The energy workers are doing everything possible to provide light for the hospital and keep the water supply running.

"No one can accurately predict when electricity will be available in residents' homes, at least hourly," the mayor wrote.

Many schools have sustained damage, but the exact count is unknown. The damage mainly consists of broken windows and doors, with a significant amount reported. Today, kindergartens will operate as usual with regular group schedules.

A number of medical buildings were damaged, with broken windows being the most common issue. Fortunately, the medical equipment was largely unharmed, and hospitals are still functioning.

Water will be provided hourly, with the specific water supply schedule announced in the morning.

Victim appeals continue to pour in, with two men currently hospitalized. Sadly, one of them is in a critical condition (coma). According to Semenikhin, that man was trying to save people.

Part of the tramway in the downtown area was wrecked. Tram service will be restricted. The mayor stated that only the third route would remain operational.

According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration's previous report, thirteen individuals were injured to varying degrees due to an enemy attack.

Right now, emergency and rescue teams are on the scene of the airstrike, working to resolve its aftermath. They are still assessing the damage and gathering information about the impact.

Khmelnytskyi region

There were several instances of explosions heard in the Khmelnytskyi region during the night of September 12, caused by Russian UAV attacks.

The initial reports of explosions in the Khmelnytskyi region emerged at 3:20 a.m. Just 13 minutes later, the Suspilne publication reported on subsequent blasts. Around 4:00 a.m., the region was once again shaken by the sounds of explosions for the third time that night.

The Air Force separately warned the residents of Starokostiantyniv about the danger.

A furniture storage warehouse in the region caught fire due to a night attack by Russian drones. Efforts to extinguish the fire are currently underway.

Serhii Tiurin, the head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, announced this on Facebook.

According to him, that night during the air alert, the air defense destroyed ten enemy Shahed drones in the sky over the region.

Kyiv region

On the night of September 12, an air raid alert warning was issued in Kyiv and most of Ukraine due to Russian drones.

Air defense forces worked in the Kyiv region.

According to Serhii Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, the seventh air attack by Russian invaders on the capital since September was announced in Kyiv that night. The enemy once again used attack UAVs, previously of the Shahed type.

"As for the missiles, there were indeed threats of ballistic missiles at night, but they weren't actually launched in Kyiv. The air siren went off three times in the capital and lasted about 2 hours in total," Popko noted.

According to him, the enemy sent out initial waves of drones before midnight, but throughout the night, they continued to add more and more UAVs to the airspace of Ukraine. Russian attack drones also entered Kyiv multiple times, arriving from various directions, mostly one at a time.

However, none of the drones made it to Kyiv as they were all shot down by the anti-aircraft defense on their approach. The Air Force reports will provide details on the type and number of enemy weapons used.

According to the preliminary data, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration added that there were no casualties or damage in Kyiv.

For reference:

It's worth mentioning that on the night of September 11, the Russian invaders launched a variety of missiles and attack drones in several regions of the country. However, the air defense forces successfully took down 20 Shahed drones.
