United to win: Estonia aids Ukrainian military personnel in rehabilitation and prosthetics

While on a business trip to Tallinn, the Ukrainian delegation, led by Arseniy Pushkarenko, head of the inter-parliamentary cooperation group with Estonia, met with Ukrainian military personnel who are currently receiving rehabilitation in a hospital in the capital and are waiting for prosthetics.

Arseniy Pushkarenko reported that on Facebook.

"It is worth noting that for the second year in a row, the Estonian government, together with the BGV Charity Fund, is implementing a program on prosthetics for the Ukrainian military. In total, 20 of our heroes received modern bionic prostheses last year, and this year the program continues," People's Deputy of Ukraine Arseniy Pushkarenko said.

The prosthetics program, funded by the Estonian government with the assistance of the BGV Charity Fund, started in the spring of 2023. Last year, 23 Ukrainians took part in it, receiving 32 prostheses at the East Tallinn Central Clinical Hospital.

Arseniy Pushkarenko, together with the Minister of Social Policy of Estonia Signe Riisalo, Director of the BGV Charitable Foundation Polina Aldoshyna, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Estonia Maksym Kononenko talked to the Ukrainian defenders as part of the visit to the medical facility. The soldiers noted that they were satisfied with the level of medical services and their stay in the capital hospital.

They also jointly held a meeting with Tallinn Hospital medical workers and discussed the issue of training Ukrainian doctors in modern rehabilitation practices. In addition, they discussed the creation of a network of rehabilitation and prosthetics centers in Ukraine.

For reference:

It is worth mentioning that there are plans to establish a cutting-edge rehabilitation center in the Zhytomyr region for both military and civilian victims of Russian aggression who have lost limbs and require prosthetics. This initiative is being spearheaded by the BGV Charity Fund, with the support of the former President of Estonia (2016-2021) Kersti Kaljulaid, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Health.
