United to win: Ukraine to receive €1.2 bln in military aid from Norway this year through new security agreement

In Stockholm, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, signed an Agreement on cooperation in the field of security and long-term support.

This year, Norway will provide Ukraine with at least NOK 13.5 billion (about EUR 1.2 billion) in military aid. In general, Norway invested almost 6.4 billion euros in the long-term Nansen Program for Ukraine's support from 2023 to 2027. Norwegian support to Ukraine will continue throughout the term of the agreement.

Together with its allies, Norway will help Ukraine develop its capabilities in the field of modern combat aircraft and has already recorded an apparent readiness to transfer F-16 fighter jets.

In addition, it will significantly contribute to the development of maritime capabilities in the Black and Azov Seas, continue to provide NASAMS systems and equipment for them, and train specialists.

Ukraine and Norway will work on deepening defense-industrial cooperation.

The non-military blocks of the agreement concern support for the Ukrainian peace formula, sanctions, compensation for damages, bringing the aggressor to justice, as well as assistance in economic recovery, humanitarian demining, protection of critical infrastructure, and the fight against Russian propaganda. Norwegian hospitals will continue to assist Ukrainians.

Norway is firmly convinced that Ukraine and its people's future lies in the Euro-Atlantic community. Therefore, it will work on Ukraine's future membership in NATO.

Norway is the 15th country with which a bilateral security agreement has been concluded to implement the provisions of the G7 Vilnius Declaration. In total, Ukraine has already signed fourteen bilateral security agreements with Great Britain, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, and Iceland.

As Rubryka reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky is in Stockholm, where he will attend the third Ukraine-Northern Europe Summit.

During the visit, Zelensky and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson, signed an Agreement on cooperation in the security field in Stockholm.

Also in Stockholm, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Iceland Bjarni Benediktsson signed an Agreement on cooperation in the field of security and long-term support.
