Netherlands approve year-long €100 mln aid for Ukraine’s humanitarian needs

Netherlands announced the allocation of the first €102 million tranche out of over €2 billion planned for Ukraine in 2024.

The money will be used for humanitarian needs in the winter and preparation for spring, the press release.

The €102 million package is designed to cover the first four months of 2024 to help Ukraine get through the winter and prepare for spring.

€15 million euros will be allocated to to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, and demining of agricultural land and liverated territories of Ukraine.

Another €62 million of Dutch funds will be used to support the Government of Ukraine in providing basic services, restoring critical infrastructure, and supporting reforms through the World Bank's Ukraine and Moldova Recovery Program.

Finally, €10 million will help finance equipment for the Ukrainian power grid.

Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade Joffrey van Leeuwen visited Ukraine and announced plans to allocate additional aid for 2024.

The Dutch government has earmarked 2 billion euros of military support for Ukraine for the next year: 295 million as a contribution to the European Peace Fund, 89 million for justice, and three million for non-military cyber support.

In early November, after her visits to Kharkiv and Kyiv, Ollongren pledged to provide Ukraine with €500 million for ammunition.

The Netherlands has also already allocated 9 million for capacity building for the Office of the Prosecutor General and the judiciary of Ukraine.
