Russian rockets attack Kyiv: 53 civilians injured, residential houses, kindergarten damaged

On Wednesday night, December 13, powerful explosions rocked the Ukrainian capital. Russia launched an attack on Kyiv, firing ten ballistic missiles.

The fallout damaged buildings, a kindergarten, and cars, with the number of casualties rising to 53, Rubryka reports, citing the Kyiv City Military Administration and the city's mayor, Vitalii Klychko.

According to reports, after the anti-aircraft defense system intercepted Russian air targets over Kyiv, numerous missile debris fell on the city's left bank.

At least ten explosions occurred during the missile threat in the capital overnight.

Initially, Klychko reported that in the Dniprovskyi district of the city, rocket debris damaged the facade of a residential building. He also mentioned that cars were on fire in the yard of the building.

The Kyiv City Military Administration's preliminary report said a fire occurred in a multi-story residential building. Rescue operations have been initiated.

Later, the mayor announced that 53 residents were affected during the missile attack.

"20 of them, including two children, were hospitalized. Medical assistance was provided on the spot to 33 of the affected, including six children," he said.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the Dniprovskyi district, the facade of a multi-story building was damaged, and a balcony on the 6th floor caught fire. Cars in the yard also caught fire, and a kindergarten building suffered damage.

In the Darnytskyi district, a residential building measuring 400 square meters caught fire, which has already been extinguished. At two locations in the Desnianskyi district, debris from the rockets was found on open ground.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, nearly ten debris-falling cases were recorded after the air defense system downed the missiles.

  • Holosiivskyi district: Debris fell on the road without subsequent ignition.
  • Darnytskyi district: A private house measuring 400 square meters caught fire.
  • Desnianskyi district: Fire on the 7th floor of a 9-story residential building and eight cars in the building's yard. Evacuation of residents was carried out. Seventeen people, including seven children, were saved. The Red Cross is on-site, and Kyivpasstrans buses are providing heating for people, along with psychological support.
  • Dniprovskyi district: Windows were shattered in two residential buildings due to the shockwave. A private residential building measuring 2 square meters also caught fire. Debris from the rocket fell on three private residential buildings without causing a fire. Buildings and auxiliary structures partially collapsed.

Debris falling on the road and damage to the water supply network were reported in various areas.

As of now, there is no information about fatalities. The oldest victim is 80 years old, and the youngest is five years old.

A photo correspondent from Rubryka, Mykola Tymchenko, is on the scene documenting the consequences of the Russian rocket attack.

To recap, on the evening of December 12, Russian forces launched ten drones targeting several regions, and during the night of December 13, powerful explosions happened in Kyiv as Russia attacked the capital with ten ballistic missiles.

"The anti-aircraft missile unit of the Air Force destroyed all ten targets flying towards Kyiv on a ballistic trajectory. The type of missiles can only be determined after studying the debris," said the Air Force.

Two days ago, on December 11, Russian forces also attacked the capital with ballistic missiles. The air defense forces successfully intercepted all enemy targets.

At that time, in Bortnychi, a private sector of Kyiv, there was much damage and destruction at various locations due to debris from the downed Russian ballistic missiles. A total of four people were affected.
