Solutions to win: Lviv unveils “Recovery” rehabilitation center for Ukrainian soldiers

Ukraine's western Lviv unveiled another rehabilitation center for wounded Ukrainian soldiers.

The "Recovery" center has just started its operations and will be another space for safe and comfortable being.

What is the problem?

Ukraine's war has already resulted in over 70,000 amputees and even more wounded. Combat medics attempt to save the lives of many troops, however some types of injuries along with poorly equipped hospitals may leave troops alone with their traumas.

The further rehabilitation plays a major role in post-war mental health and return to the civilian life.

Special advanced treatment is aimed at the least painful rehabilitation, therapy and avoiding disabilities. 

The consequences of poor treatment leads to bad muscle functioning which prevents the fighter from active life and movement.

Most modern recovery centers are based on the 2014 experience when the troops had to be cared off in field hospitals.

What is the solution?

An innovative center for the rehabilitation of severely wounded Ukrainian soldiers of the Recovery Network has been launched at a hospital in Lviv. This is the seventh center in the project, the network's press service reports.

 How does it work?

The new hub is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment in accordance with international standards and inclusive facilities, such as spacious corridors and sanitary and hygienic areas for patients with limited mobility.

The "Recovery" project assures wounded Ukrainian servicemen will be able to recover according to the highest international standards.

A medical and rehabilitation facility has been set up on the first floor A large physical rehabilitation room and a physiotherapy room is equipped in accordance with international standards.

Modern equipment with virtual reality provides feedback to the patient.

The ward department was renovated and expanded from 20 to 44 beds. They have multifunctional beds with electric drive and appropriate furniture for a comfortable stay of patients.

Occupational therapy, individual physical therapy, and assistive technology rooms are fully equipped, and virtual reality equipment has been installed to provide feedback to patients, the statement said.

The press release notes that over 1,000 soldiers will receive rehabilitation assistance during the year.
