How does it work?

The "League of the Unconquered" project is not about competitions or professional sports, but about a whole ecosystem of veteran sports, which is designed to create a community of active, motivated military personnel who will inspire others to play sports regularly," said Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department in Lviv region.

The slogan of the project is "The power is in you." The initiative encourages military personnel and veterans to undergo rehabilitation in the Lviv region and plans to scale up to the whole of Ukraine.

The soldier will be included in open training sessions and competitions in various sports for military personnel and war veterans, active rehabilitation at sports facilities in the region, and preparing a series of motivational video stories about those who have returned to normal life.

The project founders plan to start the construction of infrastructure, playgrounds, and complexes for veterans and their families, as social, psychological, and physical rehabilitation is faster when family members are close by.

Socially responsible businesses are already actively joining the project. Together with partners, they have developed a "card of the unconquered," which will be a pass for veterans and their family to private sports facilities, gyms, and swimming pools.

As part of the presentation, an open multi-sport training session was also held at the recently opened sports ground in Lviv Regional Hospital for War Veterans and the Repressed. Ex-soldiers practice adaptive sports such as boccia, table tennis, basketball, and volleyball. Ukrainian Paralympic champion Viktor Didukh held a table tennis master class for the patients.

A team of rehabilitation specialists, therapists, and physical therapists work with veterans at the facility.
