United to win: Canada sends Ukraine portable systems for stabilizing seriously wounded

The Government of Canada and the Canadian-Ukrainian Foundation delivered 1️0️0 portable systems for stabilizing the seriously injured to Ukraine's Ministry of Health,

The Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor Ihor Kuzin, announced on Facebook that these systems are used during transportation of the wounded to hospitals and emergency medical assistance at the scene of the call, Rubryka reports.

What is the problem?

Thanks to their small weight (18 kg), the integrated life support units can be quickly carried out during trips. One such device replaces several stationary systems used in intensive care units.

"The Ministry of Health of Ukraine received 1️0️0 portable systems for stabilizing the seriously injured during their transportation to hospitals and providing emergency medical aid at the scene of the call from the Government of Canada and the Canadian-Ukrainian Foundation," Kuzin noted.

How does it work?

Portable systems will be distributed to stabilization points, emergency medical teams, and disaster medicine.

According to the deputy minister, this will allow monitoring of the patient's vital functions and provide artificial ventilation of the lungs for the wounded under challenging conditions, maintain the patient's medical indicators, and prevent complications during transportation to medical facilities or medical evacuation by air transport.

"Rockets destroy medical infrastructure and attack civilian objects. The injured and seriously injured need urgent medical care, especially during evacuation or transportation from the attack site to the hospital," said the chief state sanitary doctor. "Portable life support systems are essential at the stage of emergency medical care and will help save the lives of the victims." 

He thanked international partners for a reliable shoulder of support and for strengthening Ukrainian medicine.

Rubryka reported that Canada handed over 20 pyrotechnic suits to Ukrainian rescuers.
