Zelensky: Ukraine will be in NATO

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the NATO summit in Vilnius effectively removed any doubts or uncertainties regarding Ukraine's membership in NATO over two days.

Rubryka reports that in his evening address, the Ukrainian leader stressed that for the first time since independence, "we formed a security foundation for Ukraine on the way to NATO."

"These are concrete security guarantees that confirm the top 7 democracies of the world. Never before have we had such a security foundation, and it is the level of the Great Seven. On this foundation, we will build a new, legally binding architecture of bilateral security treaties with the strongest ones," Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president said that during these two days of the summit, "we removed any doubts and ambiguities about whether Ukraine will be in NATO. It will be!" 

"For the first time, not only are all members of the Alliance in agreement with this, but also a significant majority in the Alliance is energetically approaching it," the president noted. "Never before have the words 'you are equal among equals; for Ukraine from other NATO members sounded truly meaningful. Now everyone understands: this is a fact: equals among equals. And we will confirm this fact with our victory and joining NATO." 

Zelensky emphasized that Russia has no chance to set its conditions regarding countries' accession to NATO.

"Once upon a time, the masters of Russia really wanted to have their barrier in front of NATO's door. We left this Russian ambition on the margins of European history, behind the fence of our unity in Europe and, more broadly, in the free world," the Ukrainian president said.

As Rubryka reported, the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries agreed on the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius.

NATO heads of state and government agreed to drop the requirement for a Membership Action Plan for Uk. They said they would invite Ukraine to join the Alliance after "fulfillment of conditions."

Over the course of the summit, Zelensky met with NATO Chief Stoltenberg and the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, whom he informed about the situation on the Ukrainian-Russian front.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi also held talks with the leaders of Canada, Germany, and Great Britain.
