Poland intends to train two Ukrainian battalions monthly

Poland announced its intention to carry out monthly military training of two battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Wojciech Skurkiewicz, Deputy Minister-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defense of Poland, announced this during a meeting of the National Security Committee of the Sejm, Ukrinform reports.

He noted that Poland presented the most significant proposal for training units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, declaring its readiness to conduct special group training, particularly for sappers, as well as medical courses and basic training for the Armed Forces.

"The Polish proposal is distinguished by a declaration of group training… We will start the training of two Ukrainian battalions simultaneously every month," Skurkiewicz emphasized.

According to him, this training will be adapted to the actual needs of the Ukrainian army.

The deputy minister also emphasized that the mission of training units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine should not be limited to training but should offer the Ukrainian side a comprehensive package regarding the preparation of Ukrainian troops for combat operations. It should also include the free transfer of the equipment on which training takes place.

Skurkiewicz noted that the training of Ukrainian units takes place within the framework of the EU mission, in which Poland was one of the main organizers and made the most significant contribution, particularly in managing the mission at the operational level. In particular, the headquarters of the mission was created on the basis of the headquarters of the 11th "Lubuska" Armoured Cavalry Division in the west of the country.

Skurkiewicz also reported that Poland has already made 30 deliveries of military aid to Ukraine – including weapons, ammunition, and other equipment. In addition, "over 50 countries from all over the world send military aid to Ukraine – every day permanently" via the hub created in the country's southeastern part.

"We are determined to support Ukraine in repelling Russian aggression. Ukraine must win this war. Otherwise, the consequences of Russia achieving its goals through aggression will have a destructive effect on the entire international security system," the Polish government official summarized.
