Ukraine launches single environmental web portal “EcoSystem”

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution "On the Unified Environmental Platform 'EcoSystem.'"

This decision will regulate a single environmental platform, which the Ministry of Environmental Protection launched in a test mode in May 2021, according to the Government portal.

This document defines "EcoSystem" as a national environmental automated information and analytical system integrated with the Diia portal, designed to provide access to environmental information, as well as effective electronic interaction between government, business, and community to obtain administrative services in environmental protection.

EcoSystem already contains seven online services, 66 registers of open environmental data, three integrated information resources: the State Cadastre of Territories and Objects of the Nature Reserve Fund, the website wownature.in.ua, and the National Register of Emissions and Transfer of Pollutants.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection believes that in the future "EcoSystem" will become a truly modern and effective tool for managing natural resources and a platform for finding relevant information about the state of the environment in Ukraine

The portal also has:

• to ensure a high level of awareness of Ukrainians about the state of the environment;
• facilitate the implementation of the e-government mechanism;
• to guarantee transparency in the activities of executive bodies;
• to simplify the generalization and systematization of environmental information held by public authorities at various levels;
• to promote the coordination of the positions of stakeholders and increase public participation in decision-making related to environmental policy, etc.
