Kharkiv agreements: SBU conducted searches in Cabinet of Ministers, Rada, and NSDC

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted searches in the case of preparation and ratification of the Kharkiv Agreements.

Searches were conducted in the administrative buildings of the following authorities:

• Verkhovna Rada, in particular, its committees;
• Main Scientific and Expert Department of the Verkhovna Rada;
• National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine;
• Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
• Cabinet of Ministers together with the State Bureau of Investigation.

"During the searches, documents were found that show that the then-leadership of the state, before signing and accepting these documents, was aware of their consequences," the statement said.

According to investigators, the leaders of the state understood that increasing the number of Russian military and special services in Crimea could be used in the future to occupy the Ukrainian peninsula, which, in fact, happened.

The Security Service stressed they complied with the law during the searches and promised to regularly inform the public about the progress of the case. Procedural guidance in the case is provided by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

As reported by Rubryka, on March 11, the National Security and Defense Council instructed the Security Service to study the circumstances of people's deputies of the sixth convocation voting for the Kharkiv agreements and in case of confirming treason to initiate criminal proceedings against them according to Art. 111 of the CCU.

On March 12, the SBU launched a pre-trial investigation into the circumstances of the Verkhovna Rada signing and ratifying the agreement on the stay of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine in 2010.
