In Ukraine, you can buy paper and bags of fallen leaves
The Ukrainian company Re-leaf starts selling its paper products from fallen leaves on an industrial scale.
According to the company, the start of sales began on May 25.
On the website, you can buy craft paper in RE-leaf PAPER sheets, craft paper in a RE-leaf ROLL, and shopping RE-leaf BAG bags. This craft paper, with densities of 80 and 90 g/m2, has the appropriate physical and mechanical characteristics, which makes it suitable for packaging, package production, etc.
The new batch consists of two tons of paper. Re-Leaf notes that the product's cost will be equal to the cost of regular craft paper, which will allow it to be sold en masse.
As you know, the technology of creating paper from fallen leaves Re-Leaf was developed by Ukrainian Valentyn Frechka. In 2019, the technology was successfully tested on specialized equipment. The first industrial batch of paper made from fallen leaves was released in autumn 2020. It was planned to make paper bags, cardboard, and test samples of utensils from it.
In May 2021, Frechka set a new ambitious goal. He now wants RE-leaf PAPER to produce 5 tons of paper products a month.
"Apple was founded in an American garage. Nike launched in the parent laundry. Disney was founded in the basement of a private house. There's something symbolic in this because RE-leaf PAPER appeared in a regular rural school laboratory," the startup's website says.
To make paper, the cleaned leaves are boiled in vats, after which the resulting mass is sent to the conveyor for it to lose moisture. Subsequently, it is stretched and turned into paper or given the desired shape. In the production process, the raw material is heated only to 40 degrees, and so no harmful substances are released into the air.
