Introducing mandatory cash registers threatens small businesses

Draft Law №6376, which provides for a one-year postponement of the mandatory application of the payment transactions recorders, must be adopted as soon as possible.

In recent years, the fight against tax evasion and the "shadow" economy has been combated. The mission, it would seem, is noble. However, small businesses, which are already on the verge of extinction in Ukraine, have been hit hard, especially in times of corona crisis.

In 2021, the number of sole proprietors increased by 83,257 or 4%. Now there are almost 2 million of them (1,983,269). This is the best result for the last 5 years. For comparison, in 2020, the growth was 22,455 fops or 1.2%.

The dynamics of business growth can be traced, but there are some challenges that small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine cannot cope with. In times of economic instability, all information attacks on a possible new Russian invasion, an outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, and quarantines, many small businesses are unable to compete, or due to lack of profitability, are closed. And it seemed that the state should help businesses in every possible way because now such help is almost their only way to stay afloat.
