In February, the world pays special attention to the problems of cancer: February 4 is World Cancer Day, February 15 is International Childhood Cancer Day. According to the National Cancer Registry, there are currently about 6,500 children with cancer in Ukraine. And every year, more than 1,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed in children under the age of 14; that's 10-12 patients per 100,000 children.

The following types of cancer are most often found in Ukrainian children:

  • leukemia and lymphoma, 31-45%
  • brain malignant neoplasms, 17-19%
  • nephroblastoma, 14-15%

Let's analyze what are the principal causes of the disease, and most importantly, how to identify them in advance to protect children from serious diseases and their consequences.
