If war breaks out: detailed instructions
Even though Russian aggression lasts for 8 years and periodically escalates and declines in acute phases, the winter of 2022 returns us to the state of 2014-15 or the end of 2018, with the incident in the Kerch Strait and the first martial law in Ukraine. Reminders of emergency backpacks, bomb shelters, and protection from shelling roam the Internet unsystematically. I will try to systematize the various flows and recommendations in case of an emergency, or when the northern neighbor is out to lunch.
First, a few important points:
- No one in Ukraine knows whether there will really be a big full-scale war, and is unable to avert the decisions that the Russian leadership may make. Intuition and logic are unlikely to work here.
- Instilling panic, fear, and sowing chaos among us is a task, at least from the enemy, whatever they have come up with. That is why it is extremely important to keep wisdom, show a cold mind, stay calm as much as your preparation and confidence allow. It seems that no problem in the world has been solved by panic.
- The selections of recommendations were already different and will be similar. That doesn't prevent you from reflecting and preparing for these proposals and, perhaps, taking into account your own wishes/features.
- It is useless to ask "to be calm, not to panic," because everyone feels fear, anxiety, and this is normal. But you should do independent thinking and talk unemotionally with loved ones; this is our need, regardless of what will or will not happen in the coming months/years.
