2020 and fur: small victories in a big affair

Everyone will remember 2020 as a tough year, to put it mildly. Humankind has faced considerable difficulties. In particular, those caused by animal breeding (COVID-19 pandemic, outbreaks of bird flu at foie gras farms in France). Nevertheless, activists from around the planet have made every effort to ban the fur business in their countries at the legislative level. Activists of the Fur-free retail campaign of the "Open Cages Ukraine" public organization have prepared a selection of events toward combating fur that took place in 2020.

I'd like to start with the superb news we received from Poland. The Polish Senate approved a law draft with amendments banning the cultivation of fur. Then the law draft will be returned to the lower parliament (Seimas) for approval of amendments. Then the president should approve it.

This event is a great step forward to banning raising animals for fur in Poland. Prohibiting this cruel business in Poland will be a very severe blow to the fur industry, as Poland is the third largest fur-producing country in the world.
